Compliment A Stranger

Try out this life-hack (or “practice”) to feel more alive, joyful, and connected: Go up to a stranger and give them a compliment, say something nice. And feel into your body. Notice what resistance you have to doing this. And experience what happens… Maybe the other person will be smiling. Maybe you will feel joy. Maybe you will feel a little bit more connected… Or maybe (very unlikely) you’ll get a strange look and will feel a bit ashamed? And how does that feel? Is it all that bad? Are you dependent on the reaction of other people to feel alive, to feel joy?

In this video I tell you about the practice I call “Compliment A Stranger” (or the longer title could be: “Say Something Nice to a Stranger”). And I tell you about how I came up with this so-called honesty/spiritual practice, while I was on a run through the park behind Schloss Schönbrunn in Vienna…
